Out of the way Turtle!

I just got back from scuba diving at Sipadan Island, which is an island of the coast of Borneo. The famed Jacques Cousteau put Sipadan on the map back in the seventies when he said “This place is a living piece of art.” After spending 15 hours on a bus to get here….. he better be right! Sipadan is ranked 2nd on the list of worlds best dive spots. But you would never guess that when you come to Seporna which is the port town and jumping off point for Sipadan. Seporna is a real hell hole, its hard to believe that the worlds 2nd best place to dive is only a 20 minute boat ride away. The Malaysian government needs to give this place a face lift. With in the 1st hour of being in Seporna i walked past 2 dead dogs on the sidewalk which probably died from the lack of food or disease. But that said once you jump on a boat and leave this crap hole behind you enter another world. Our boat ride out to Sipadan was really rough as the weather turned to shit. The sea was kicking up 6 to 10foot waves, our speed boat smashed through everyone. At one point i thought our boat was going to snap in half. When we finally reached the dive site i was in a bad mood… the weather sucked! the 15 hour bus ride to get here sucked! Seporna sucked! and now the weather sucked!! But when i jumped in the water everything changed and i left all that crap above. Click read more!

4 dollar flights?

img_0522.JPGOver the last four years i have spent a good amount of time in Asia, and of course have heard the rumors of the cheap flights for less then $10. The thought of paying the equivalent of a happy meal to fly seems crazy and more importantly dangerous. I mean what kind of plane is it? They must be cutting cost somewhere…. maybe there’s no seats! South east Asia has a few of these low cost airlines trolling the Sky’s. I have never really looked into these flight as there has not been a need for me. Most of the time for me time is not really an issue and i can get to most places by land or boat once I’m here. But i recently found myself in a pinch, i wanted to go to Borneo which is an island and to far to go by boat. I saw a newspaper while in KL advertising flights from KL to Borneo for $20, at that price how could i say no. I logged onto airasia.com and found these so called cheap flights. I was amazed by all the places they fly to, the trick to getting these great deals is to book a month or so in advance. But of course everything i do is last second so i ended up paying $40 bucks with all taxes included… still a great deal. When was the last time you took a 2 hour flight for $40 dollars? Oh and for you that are wondering what the service was like etc… Air Asia is great not at all what i excepted for $40. The plane looked brand new and they even gave us a snack and drink for free unlike most of the airlines in the states which charge for everything. img_0519.JPGSo for any of you out there that are planning a trip to Asia and for that matter NOT planning because you thought it was too expensive…. i really recommend Air Asia, its an easy and cheap way for those who are on a budget and a tight schedule. Thanks to these low cost airlines I’m going to get a chance to go to the only country in Asia i haven’t been to yet.. the Philippine’s. Oh and you might be asking “why is Jimmy writing about this crap?” well for some people its useful. I tend to get a lot of emails from people and friends asking for advice on where to go and how to’s etc… So i decided to start writing about that stuff as well and include it under my “Travel Tips” category…. Don’t worry i will still be writing about my random adventures…. and with that said I’m off to find one… or let it find me!

Why do i fall in love so fast!

My New GirlfriendI don’t know what it is but i just tend to fall in love fast, fast enough to fall in love with 2 separate girl in 2 days….. ok ok maybe its not love. Im just a sucker for cute girls. I have spent a lot of time, actually more then i care to remember going out looking for girls. But in all that time I’ve never met a girl that had a real job, you know like a Lawyer, Doctor or maybe a Nurse or something along those lines. Most of the time i would meet out of work actress/models, ex strippers, trust fund kids, etc… Maybe i can chalk that up to living in LA or maybe its just my luck. But here in KL my luck has changed, the other night i met a beautiful girl at a club and found out that shes a lawyer. I know it doesn’t matter what people do for a living but that said i was still very intrigued. The following night i met a doctor, I’m not sure what I’m doing right… maybe I’m just putting out positive energy. Whatever the case is im enjoying myself and my fellow earthlings. Oh and Jean if your reading this don’t worry nothing really happened with me a the doctor, i just needed to help round out the story.. :-) But as my new roll model Dupree (from the movie You Me and Dupree) says “I’m living and loving!”

Borneo!!!

Map BorneoAfter spending the last week or so relaxing in Kuala Lumpur its time for me to get moving again. Im off to Borneo tomorrow for about 3 weeks, i probably won’t be posting any updates while im over there as I’m leaving most of my gear here in KL. Borneo is the 3rd largest island in the world and comprises three separate countries: Malaysia (Sabah and Sarawak), Indonesia (Kalimantan) and the Sultanate of Brunei. I will be visiting the Malaysian side and also Brunei, which is one of the worlds smallest countries and also one of the richest thanks to its abundance of oil. Borneo contains some of the oldest undisturbed areas of rainforest in the world. The wildlife in Borneo is absolutely amazing and I’m going to get a chance to see one of my most favorite animals in the wild….. “Orangutans”. Borneo is also a place where you can find head hunters or at least retired head hunters. I must say I’m really excited to go, there’s so much to see and do from world class scuba diving to lush rainforest and untouched beaches. But whatever it is im sure this is going to be a great trip!

Asia’s Paris

Petronas TowersIts been said that Kuala Lumpur is Asia’s version of Paris, if that’s the case then the Petronas Towers are Malaysia’s Eiffel Tower. Kuala Lumpur (or KL as locals call it) is made up of a mixture of different cultures, from Malay to Chinese and India. You will find elaborately designed Chinese and Indian temples merged with modern skyscrapers and office blocks. With all the different ethnic backgrounds here the food is absolutely amazing! It’s really is nice to be back here in KL, so far i have been relaxing and getting adjust to the jet lag. In between partying with friends and trying to work on my website the time seems to be flying by, i leave for Borneo on sunday.
Ok I’m not here to get all political, but what the hell is going on with global warming? Im not an expert in this field nor do i call myself one, but it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that its getting hotter! The definition of Global Warming is the warming of the planet. Well it sure is getting pretty freaking warm!!! I left LA where it was over a 100 and here on the other side of the planet its a cool 98 with 88% humidity. Well i guess on a positive note I’m getting used to the heat, which i think is a good thing since it seems the world is only getting hotter. Anyway i thought i would just share that.
