Death Penalty & Plane Crashes!!!
It’s kind of strange to be woken by someone talking about the death penalty. I lucked out by getting a few open seats next to me during the 13 hour flight to Taipei where i had to change planes and then another 4 hour flight to Kuala Lumpur. During our decent into Taipei which is a part of China (sort of), I was woken by the sound of the captain voice saying “Bringing illegal drugs into Taipei will result in the death penalty!” WOW….. i have never heard such an announcement before. I felt a little tingle in my back and the hairs on the back on my neck stood up, not that i have anything to worry about…but “I hope no one stuck something in my bag?” Over the last 4 years of constant traveling i have had a few scares, not because i was carrying drugs but the fact that my mom is a nurse and sometimes when i go home she decides with out telling me that she is going to fill my luggage full of prescription drugs that you need paper work for. One time on a flight to Japan i had a small problem at the screening station, i sent my bag through the xray machine like every other time but this time a small crowd of screening guys (not sure what you call them) started to gather around talking and looking at me. Then one of the guys pulls me over and ask “are you carrying any drugs on you?” I say “no… i don’t do drugs!” He then asked if he could open my bag and proceeded to pull out pill bottle’s full of all sorts of prescription drugs, ranging from valium, antibiotics, muscle relaxants… etc. He looks at me with a look of now who’s stupid, after about 10 minutes of tap dancing and telling the story about how my mom can sometimes be crazy and start stuffing drugs into every pocket as if she was a drug smuggler in another life….. they let me go. So obviously bringing drugs into a country is not the smartest thing to do, but whatever you do……make sure its not China!!!
Just a side note, am i the only one that when i get on a plane i start looking around at everyone wondering if we crash land on a remote island who will i get along with and who would i hook up with? I think i have been watching the show Lost too much and also probably flying a little more then i should be. Every time in get on one of these Boeing 747 i am always amazed that this double decker beast of an airplane actually gets of the ground. That said my 747 safely landed in Kuala Lumpur, i am now in the process of adjusting to jet lag and trying to get used to my normal life!
