Gridlock in the City of Angels!
I have been fortunate enough to visit some of the world’s biggest and busiest cites. One thing that they all seem to have in common is traffic! Some are dealing with it better then others. But unfortunately for me my city, Los Angeles the “City of Angels” is by far the worst city in the world when it comes to dealing with getting the millions of people around each day. The streets of LA are practically gridlocked at all hours of the day. It seriously can’t get much worse, it’s like that video from REM “Everybody Hurts”.
We do have a metro (subway) but it only has a few stops and goes nowhere, or at least nowhere I need to go. The buses are pretty much useless, as they get stuck on the same jam packed streets. With that said this is not something new, the streets of Los Angeles have been overloaded for the last 40 years. But the problem is the government and state doesn’t seem to be doing anything about it.
Their excuse for not building a working subway is the cost (even though California is the 4th largest economy in the world.) and some BS about underground fault lines. The thing is they don’t need to go underground, they can add trains along the freeways like they do in cities all over the world. Anyway well I don’t see it getting better anytime soon, so I guess I will just sit back in my little Smart Car and dream of my days on my secret beach drinking fresh pineapple juice.
Now about my car, the Smart Car is becoming a pain in the ass. It has been getting too much attention. The guy at the dealer did say it’s kind of like rock star status. Well the hot groupies are nowhere to be found but everyone else seems to want to sit in it, or take a picture standing in front of it. I feel that I’m the spokes person for Smart Car here in LA. The weird thing is these cars have been around forever and they’re all over the world. It just us ass backwards Americans that think its some new thing, like I just landed from another planet. People ask, “Does it have an engine?” no it’s like the Flintstones… I use my feet. Or they say, “Can you drive on the freeway?” of course you can. The Smart car can go over 90mph… not like you can ever go that fast in LA anyway thanks to the traffic.
I know both those topics seem negative so I will end on a positive. It seems that I might have found a pretty sweet apartment or I should say “Home”.

Looks like I will go to work in Africa for awhile starting in June. It is suposed to be at a “safe” island off the west coast.
Good luck adjusting back to life in “LAtrine”.
