Green is the New Black!

Since I have been home there are two things that have been hammered into my brain through the media (TV, Billboards, Magazines…etc) #1 Weight Loss, which is nothing new here in American. #2 Going Green! It is true what they say…. “Green in the new black!” The last time I was here was less then 1year ago, and back then it wasn’t as cool at the time or should I say it was just starting. Now it’s everywhere, and with that last night I ended up at my first “Green” party in Los Angeles called Green Drinks. A group of different green organizations got together to raise awareness and also money.

First off I’m not at all making fun of this, I’m actually quite glad that this stuff is happening, and that they were able to turn it into a great night in downtown Los Angeles. When I walked in I felt a little out of place as most of these people are really over the top greenies. I then realized… hey I have a smart car so that must give me some street credit! It was a great night filled with powerful drinks, good music, and amazing views from the roof top overlooking the staples center.

I met the most beautiful girl ever; I called her white boots (never did get her name). I tried talking to her at the bar, but I had no game. The only thing I could come up with was something stupid like “I hear the pear vodka is good.” Yeah I know it was lame. I wanted to go up to her and say one word “Dyn…o…mite!”. The way she dressed and everything about her was dynamite! When I finally shook the clingers and was free to look for her, she was gone and so was my heart. Anyway so other then falling in love the night was pretty nice. And White boots if you’re reading this…. Do the right thing. :-)

Limbo Limbo Land!

I have found myself stuck in a place I call Limbo Land! I guess when you live a life of one foot in the door and one foot out, you never really feel grounded. Since I have been home the main mission has been taking care of taxes, apartment hunting and trying to get some projects (work) going. Dealing with my taxes was much less painful then I originally planned for, apartment hunting has been slow going and the same can be said for working.

But maybe I should rethink the word slow, I have only been home for 2 weeks which isn’t that long, but remember my last name is Swift… so I tend to like things done at a fast pace. Today I decided to take a break after looking at a lackluster apartment. Los Angeles can be a tough city to find relief from the madness, but there is one place that I can always go to clear my head and relax.

Runyon Canyon is a place where most people go to hike/workout, but I seem to use it more as a place I go and sit for hours and think/dream of things. From my perch high above the gridlocked and polluted LA streets, I sit as a Hawk would scanning the horizon for interesting things. It’s a quite peaceful place sitting there watching people below going about their everyday business. The sounds of cars on the freeway sound like the ocean if you listen real carefully. It’s also a great place for my favorite sport in the world… “People watching”. This place has been said to be a great spot for celebrity sightings. I must say in my years of coming here I have only seen a few movie stars. But for me this place has something more interesting then celebrities… beautiful women! Read more…

Into the Wild

Into the WildI have been getting a lot of emails from friends and strangers that stumble upon my website saying that they just saw the movie “Into the Wild” and that my life is very similar. In April 1992 a young man from a well to do family hitchhiked to Alaska and walked alone into the wilderness. His name was Christopher McCandless. He had given $25,000 in savings to charity, abandoned his car and most of his possessions, burned all the cash in his wallet, and invented a new life for himself. Four months later his decomposed body was found by a moose hunter in an abandoned bus. The book “Into the Wild” is from one of my favorite authors Jon Krakauer, and now its been made into a Hollywood film directed by Sean Penn. Since there’s no chance is seeing the movie in this part of the world I have opted to read the book. I’m only on chapter 3 but I’m not sure if I should take people saying my life is similar, as an insult or a compliment cause so far this kid seems like a nut job… wait a minute… are you guys trying to say something? … haha anyway but never the less I will continue reading it as I have a lot of time to kill on my 36 hour bus ride to India!
